    Posting a thread ???

I am not a computer expert, nor am I a programmer.
I use one, well several actually, in the course of my job.

    Here’s a tip :-

    Open a Word document

Enter your comments, queries, for sale adverts, in fact anything you wish to say on the BBS in the Word Document

Press F7 on your keyboard or open the TOOLS menu and click on Spelling and Grammar.

All your errors will be highlighted complete with any spelling corrections.
Of course you may not have any errors at all.

Highlight your comments etc. and cut and paste into your BBS reply

I hope this is of benefit, just trying to help.

I take your point but distrust spellcheckers because they will come up with a word near in spelling but not necessarily in meaning. I remember someone writing that we would have a marquis at our next event. Instead we had commoners and a big tent. Perhaps the noble had a prior engagement. A dictionary may seem as quaint as a quill pen but it's far more accurate.

Not much point in me using Word, as my computer keeps reverting to U.S. English for some reason, and therefore I believe Microsoft have a plot to make us use US words and spellings. Or am I just being paranoid again?

I also have taken to using the good old Oxford Dictionary, although you cannot always tell!

You seem to have left out the full stops after document, document, reply and Sam.

    Just trying to help.

Well spotted. Glad to see you spotted my deliberate mistakes.

There's a spellchecker built into the forum itself - it's automatic as-you-type - but if people can't even be arsed to right click on the red-underlined word to simply select the correct spelling of that word, then I'm pretty sure they won't go through the Word copy-paste retinue. Retina. Retsina. Routine! Ah, got there in the end.

With respect this country is floundering because people insist on making simple tasks ridiculously complicated.
It's ok if you want to inflict this on yourself to post on here.
It's not if it is your job- which is what causes the problem.
