Meon Valley bowman Classic 12th June 2016

This year's Bowman Classic turned out to be one of the best! despite the weather starting of miserable, 83 shooters turned up to enjoy another brilliant day of fun, and judging from the amount of smiling faces and positive feed back, it was enjoyed by all.

The tactical 20 shot gamble defiantly had shooters thinking on their feet or Knees and the HFT course set to CSFTA HFT rules wasn't as easy as some thought, as a number of experienced UKAHFT shooters found out by having to stretch slightly to find a path to the kill + the number of range traps catching out
    a large number too!

But the biggest laughter was to be heard coming from the pistol course
with many shooters never having shot a pistol let alone as HFT.

As always a massive big thank you to all that made the effort to turn up to Hen Woods, from North, South, East & West the lads & lasses from Swindon, Sussex & Maldon, and the number of Juniors too ......THANKS

Well done to all the class winners.....epically some of our own:

    Open
after a very tense shoot off with 5 shooters scoring 57
    Stu Tennent 1st
    Justin Rayner 2nd
and a absolutely brilliant 3rd for Andy Clarke, (who is still a relatively new shooter) & beating Vince Blackman TOO!!

In the Gamble (on count back)
    1st John Cooper 24
    2nd Charles Peal 24
    3rd Glen Breadmore 24

Pistol (on count back for 1st & 2nd)
    1st Nigel Brown 37
    2nd Peter Vidler 37
    3rd Charles Peal 36

    Recoiling
    1st Chris Tyhurst 54
    2nd Colin Baggs 53
    3rd Russell Inns 50

    Junior
    1st Harry Winkworth 50
    2nd George Danvers 49
    3rd Nathan Brown 43

    Overall champion
    1st Charls Peal 115
    2nd Vince Blackman 113
3rd Pete Vidler 107 (another great result for another up and coming meon shooter)

Not forgetting our more elder statesmen
1st place in Senior class went to our POP! (or granddad if you prefer ).....Mick Philips.

And as you can see from the above results, another massive congrats to... Charles Peal.. for taking the Overall Title and more of our trophy's + a box of Bowmans Ale (lets not invite him again...LOL!) as did all of our class winners.....obviously not the Junior's!

I Can't Finish off without thanking the Stirling efforts of the members who gave up their free time to help get Hen woods ready for the Bowman classic over the last couple of weekends, especially Ali, and Stu in setting up the three courses.

To the rest of the MEON massive who pitched in and helped out throughout the day (and it was a long day) Thank you!

Last but not least.. Steve Haworth for his tireless work in making sure everything ran smoothly and getting the results out in time.

    Hi Stuart

Any prospect of my being credited (possibly not as card not witnessed) with what I did manage to achieve on the HFT course BEFORE my FTP 'died' when the cocking lever arm parted company from the action? Pretty sure that Phil Stokes and Vince Guy would vouch for whatever it was they wrote on my card.

54 looks quite good if people think I only shot the HFT, but that was actually my total from the pistol and gamble alone.

I need to record thanks to Simmo for the loan of his ISP for the Gamble effort.

    Many thanks
