Keep us informed. By all accounts the little hornet is sensitive to primers. Too hot and they can knock the head out before lighting the powder. The cci pistol primers. 400 and 500 I believe are the best to use. When they are in stock. By bulk!
Tried Federal primers in the Hornet tonight behind 12.5gr of Lil Gun and a 35gr V-Max.
As usual, the V-Max grouped really well with most shots touching at 100 yards but I noticed the POI was significantly higher than usual by around 2"
I've been using CCI primers (400 & BR2) and wondered if the Federal primers were more powerful? Noticed some muzzle flash too as it started to go dark which is something that I haven't observed before.
I'll try them over my pal's chronograph when I get chance to see if they have exceeded 2,988fps which is the MV using CCI primers

Because it's such a small cartridge the hornet is sensitive to everything, if you change primer you get change in POI, if you change brass you get a different poi. That's why I try and load in batches of 100 or 150 now all of the same brass, when my win batch is getting low I switch to loading 100 ppu and rezero.
I get muzzle flash too with fed 205s
Thanks for looking
Interesting, I've always used CCI 400's but got a sheet of Fiocchi small rifle from a different shop.
Changing primers always se me and I result in a poi change, it's changing the way ignition begins so will change the harmonics, which will change poi.
The toxicity of lead varies, depending upon the weight of its doseage and its velocity!
Change anything, primer brand, case brand, even Lot-number of powder, will likely change a POI.
Once I find a load that is sweet with the tune of my rifle, I stick to it.
Not directly connected, but when we went from .308 with LR primers, to the small primer Lapua .308 brass with BR4s, (FTR) we had to add approx .5gr extra to make up for the loss of velocity.
I'm a maggot in another life you know
Have you tried remington 6 1/2 primers? Designed for the hornet and work very well.
