I do a lot of really bad condition relics in satin black, but now I am trying stove paint. Stove paint is a a grey black finish and you need heat to set it on hard. The next pitted old pistol that I am working on and can get into my oven in the kitchen. Some people may cringe as it is a collectable Haenel 100.

What a great job of restoreing such a rust bucket of a modern gun. and your mate did a great job also with that stock. it just shows what can be done.

fantastic project well done I did a 77 a couple of years ago for a guy who was going to chuck his in the skip
rubbed her down and re-blacked (hot chemical blacking ) looked great when done will see if I can find some pics
