I have been using No 11, in my 21 & 22mm tunes , I have had 2 break, but have had others still running after many thousands of shots so could be a manufacturing problem, ie springs from different batches , having said that I have also had a aa mk2 spring fail in the past. My kit uses full ally o ring piston with rear bearing.
On another note I have just returned to a previous project 23mm, and applied a different approach, this has a steel full piston and utilises the standard mk 3 spring , it shoots well at short distances I now need to get it into a target stock to see if its any good at 55 yds .

Yeah, I like my 23mm - much more cost effective conversion as the existing piston and rod can be used, with just a turned down HW seal on a new nose (same rod as a mk3, saving more costs - when you add the nose (+5mm) and HW seal (+6mm), you shave 11mm off the 98mm stroke, so 87mm - great at 23mm bore. Mine's been running for 2 years now without issues - but then I don't shoot that much

I also like the fact that your 22mm is full boddied / has a piston bearing.

I too use the titan #11
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. But not lathes. I have too many lathes. Thanks, JB.

My 23mm was something I tried a few years back now I fabricated the piston from some galvanised pipe, it started of at 79mm stroke with a titan no 9, heavy to cock but blisteringly fast , I now have it at 85mm stroke 180 grams , and a mark 3 spring, it cocks nicely, and is a much softer cycle , need to see if its up to snuff as an FT weapon, oh and its an o ring of course, Having tried two 22mm skirtless tunes I believe the full skirt with minimal rear bearing has less friction due to the better support , and they shoot much nicer in my opinion.

85mm vs 87 mm completely independantly - close enough My piston weight is around 175g too

Yep full power with 8.4 jsb
I can't remember if there was a great deal of pre load 20mm ish!
It completely depends on how you set piston up, how much shoulder at nose you use etc..
I run a 22 seal and not o rings also..

Nick g uses o rings and his conversions do fire beautifully,

If you can get to a bash meet shoot his rifles and see for your selve,
Tony s conversions are there to.
    Wonky donkey etc
Shot cycle is a personal thing, and to ones it's smooth like snapping glass, to the nxt at it's fast, harsh..
You really need to shoot a few different conversions to see which if any suit ..
To be honest I really like my 25mm ally piston one the best, yep sure it has more sight movement, bit more recoil, but accuracy is spot on..
