Thank you Swallows. Was told your new ground was good and I thoroughly agree. Lovely woods with a very enjoyable course!

Hi Everyone
Fortunately for today’s SIHFTers, the weather was different from that experienced by the course setters. While the torrents which hit us earlier in the week (TWICE ) left the field entrance a tad soggy, it kept the otherwise dry/dusty leaf mold in the woods damped down and all we had was blue sky and a few fluffy white clouds. We also, finally, had a touch of a breeze coming in off the field to catch a pellet and push it when you were not expecting – or not when you were.
Some great scores but, course setters’ delight, there were no clearances while many others achieved personal best results and went away with wide smiles
My apologies for the ‘pulling’ of the free stander AT lane 16, the peg of which was too tall (should have been just 4 inches) and too close to a tree. I’d made a mental note yesterday to move it a couple of feet to the left and hammer it further in to the ground this morning, but forgot 1st thing this morning while posting DANGER notices all round our wood's 800 yard perimeter. As so many of you had questioned or misunderstood the ‘rule’ for a standing only shot with a peg (all supported positionals must NOT have a peg at all), it was decided that pulling it was the only option.
I’ll repeat the thanks of the day – to Steve, Vince, Carla and Alasdair for their help in getting everything ready and taking down the course (pulling strings and ropes, etc. in as we’ll be leaving most of the course out for a few weeks for a bit more practice) and to Gerry and Stuart for looking after the catering and doing so much work in the past few months to improve the wood's pathways. If I’ve overlooked anyone, my apologies and thanks to you too.

For achieving their 5th Gold of the season, we awarded a bunch of fresh Platinum Badges today to Kev Catt, Pat Fitzgerald, Kev Hills, Wes Micklethwaite and Simon Williams.
Please let me know a.s.a.p. if you spot anything you think is amiss in the above table. Have I misspelt any names? Have I put you in the wrong class? Let me know if you spot anything wrong. BBS PM or email should do the trick.
Prize drawer winners today were:
- Shaun Wilson – the £43 cash prize,
- Justin Roberts – the Air Arms goody bag
- And Angie Morrissette won the Compair Magazine subscription
The tie with Meon's gun scores today means that Buxted hold on to their 4 point lead ahead of Meon Valley. With only 3 members present, MAD had to call upon the ‘free draw’ for 2 extra cards to achieve their 249 total, but still left them in 8th place. Total team member scores and cumulative points won are :
Club Round 7 Points Buxted 288 80 Meon Valley 288 76 Oaks 281 72 Ford 272 49 Horsham 262 57 Iden Fern 257 51 Swallows 255 46 Maldon 249 54
Safe shooting to you all ahead of round 8 of the 2017 SIHFT, which is in two weeks’ time on the 20th August at Buxted. In the meantime, very best of shooting to all the SIHFTers, including those competing in next weekend’s events at MVAC (Masters) or venturing in to Popham Woods for the Basingstoke Summer Sizzler. Pretty sure there are other shoots on too. Enjoy wherever you head, even if just off to the pub

Well, what a result, the stewards enquiry surrounding the now infamous Peg 16 has saved me from the ignominy of being bested at the sihft by my better half, with the additional 2 points awarded i have scraped by with a 1 point TKO to retain my 100% unbeaten by the wife record.
Many thanks to all at the swallows for a fantastic course, superb catering and all round great banter.

You come into this world with nothing, go out in debt and you've made a profit
I beat you fair and square, Dougie. Damn that peg 16!
There's always next week 🥇
Thanks for the speedy post Biggles appreciated.
Well what a day, shot the kit Saturday & it was faultless, got on the Swallows plink & my 2 dot 8 yarder grew to 3.5 arghhhh noooooooo, surely that little breeze wouldn't add that on.
Haven't got a clue what happened in between so had to just go with it & compensate.
My second outing in the magical forest & boy it didn't disappoint yet again.
Gabriel equalled his PB, also shot at Swallows, so he's a very happy bunny & could we collect his gold badge next round he said.
We left pretty sharpish as I wanted to get home & image the Sun but clouds decided to rain on that, never mind.
Thanks to Setters, chefs, Marshalls & competitors.
Looking forward to the next & i'll bring the back up rifle this time
