Doughty washer. A bit like an "O" ring inside a washer.
Good Afternoon,
After filling up my X2 earlier, I noticed a slight pppssssssssst noise coming from the air gauge area
I emptied the gun of air and commenced investigations
I decided to remove the air gauge, and as I did so, I noticed some crumbly bits of something dropping off the brass thread
What I have is a metal washer with what looks like a rubber, (now perished), seal bonded to the inside of the washer.

I have a seal kit for the X2, but it does not contain this washer / seal
So chaps, do you think that it is this washer / seal that has failed or could it be the gauge itself?
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Cheers

Doughty washer. A bit like an "O" ring inside a washer.
You can spend thousands and still miss a barn door or spend just enough and enjoy yourself. If you haven't got the talent to start with a million pound won't fix it. Whippet, Russell, a few bang sticks and a flat cap. http://www.smart-tech1st.co.uk
That looks like a standard dowty seal, which are around 50p.
As far as i know most gauges on X2 rifles where aftermarket gauges thats why there will not be this seal in the kit you received.
That Dowty washer looks ruined to me and a new one of them should hopefully correct the situation Check its size and order a new dowty washer and fingers crossed it will be up and running again. search for bonded dowty washers ideally nitrile based.
Ben.
That's sound about right.
Any recommendations where I can purchase one ?
E*8y didn't turn up the goods

I had the same issue on my Merlyn.
The washer is a Doughty washer ... it has a rubber sealing ring bonded around the inside ... but it is not the usual doughty washer that you use to seal your air lines etc ... or at least mine was not.
The size of mine was 8mm inside diameter and I had to get a replacement from 'the bay' .. not expensive. Get the german metric size 8mm.
What I found with the Merlyn was that I had to be careful when removing the gauge such that the threaded bit the gauge screws into inside the cylinder did not move down the cylinder.
No real issues with replacing although take care if your gauge is on a round pillar. I used sheet rubber and grips to hold it tight.

Try these people Paul. I buy all my O rings from them and service has been first class up to now. Give them a call if you only want a small quantity

Many thanks for all the replies and once again it goes to show the excellent help and assistance available on the Airgun BBS
Dowty washers now ordered let's hope a replacement washer cures the problem.
