Might be the seal that butts up against the CO2 cap. Try a bit of pellgun oil on the next CO2 cap- the seal might be a bit dry. It certainly shouldn't lose gas like that.
Couple of days ago purchased a umarex desert eagle .177 of the forum put a co2 bulb in had about 15 shots to see it worked ok , came back to it today and no co2 , not sure if I did something wrong or as not had a co2 pistol before any ideas ?

As a rule, try not to leave CO2 caplets in a gun when the caplet is pressed directly against a seal, as it will wear the seal prematurely.
Guns where the caplet is not directly contacting a seal, like the QB78, are OK to leave the caplet in as long as you like.
