hi rich, my harrier and my merlyn both fill like that great. atb mick
Hello all,
I have been playing with my PCP pistol today with a view to having my first attempt at pistol HFT tomorrow. To fill it only requires me to clip it on to my pump hose with nothing more than the best fittings quick change adapter already in situ.
It is so simple and easy I can't understand why all PCPs that fill up at the end of a tube cylinder don't use the same connector? Am I missing something obvious?? Is there any benefit to fill probes?
Cheers Rich.

Thanks, I thought there would be others that used this fitting. Was it the spread of tube end pressure gauges that lead to fill probes of different specs taking over?

Just think though ,
They wouldn't be able to charge us lots of £££ when we misplace one
It wouldn't be half the fun not swapping them around for each rifle .
As you've said , The Best Fittings kit is the way to go.
Love them or loath them - at least Daystate use the universal adaptor that all the best fittings attach to. I agree with you it would be far simpler if all manufacturers agreed to use this as it's the starting point for 90% of all other filling adaptors - but like Alan says - they want to charge you time and time again for different adaptors, none of which I have ever used seem to have any significant advantage over the universal one?

It's marketing pure & simple, if only brand X has fitting type A, then to buy any parts for fitting A you must buy them from brand X, equally if you have lots of spares for fitting type A it might help nudge you towards buying another gun from brand X rather than have to buy spares to fit a different fitting from a different brand.
At the risk of bringing dull facts into the debate, supplying replacement charging connectors isn't a revenue stream. By the time everything's factored in, breaking even is usually a bit of a result. Having seen the numbers, I can assure you that replacing such components is a service, not an earner.
Just saying.
If you don't know enough to judge - don't judge
I here what you are saying Terry and appreciate the facts .
My comment was made a little cynically and tongue in cheek .
For what manufacturers charge for a new PCP though it does sometimes seem like a convenient extra .
As has been said , a universal filler would be ideal.
I assure you, from a manufacturer's point of view, there's little 'convenient' about supplying spares, mate.
As for a universal filler, I agree it would be nice to have one, but not only do manufacturers believe their own system is the best one, some PCP designs favour probe fillers and others the snap-fit type. At least we've moved on from the screw-on ones!![]()

Its not rocket science.
Buy a female adapter for the bottle then fit your probe ir filler to a male adapter.
Its a plug and play solution.
The problem isnt the probe variation....its people dont set up their fill solutions with a universal solution.
The kits out there.

I was thinking exactly the same yesterday when filling my s300 with a quick fill conversion fitted. It's so much easier than worrying about snagging o rings and having to label the probes as they look the same. But as Terry said its better than screwing them on as we had to do.
Agree different ones for all makes is a pain one standard fitting would save a lot of agro.
DS are most probably the best ones out the quick and simple. I lost my fill probe for my JKhan and could I find one on line could I heck in the end my RFD went to the importers and got one worst is zero trade discount for him and yes it’s gone walk about again the wife has been in tidy up mode again.
Blimey, you seem to have a problem with Steyr?
I've a small tub with 7 different types of fillers in the car... bit of an annoyance.
