dave according to quickload 52gn is 104 % fill capacity
Hi Lads.
Anyone using the above --------just want conformation im not over charging the cases ???
The above data is i believe correct, its just that from about 50gn the powder is "just about" level with the case neck, 52gn is only about 7mm down from the top of the case so i suppose the bullet when seated will compress the powder ? --------Does this sound right ?
At the moment ive only loaded 47gn, 47.5gn, 48gn, 48.5gn, 49gn, 49.5, 50gn, but haven’t fired any--------rifle is a brand new Tikka t3x lite.

If you haven't already done so I'd download the data from Ramshot and study it

Thanks Steve.
Having only loaded 223 with the n120 data you gave me there is plenty of space left, then with this new 243 load there hardly any room left for the bullet , suppose i'm just not used to seeing it like this.
Looking on the Hawke trajectory data from 3700-3750 fps and zeroed 1" high at 100 yds with Drone Pro height being 2.6" i still have a point blank kill zone of 280-290 yds still keeping in inside 2", so not that important to screw the nuts off it.

50 gns with your barrel dave should be around 3415 fps on standard seating depth....52gns will give you 3567 fps but watch the pressure as you will be on the limit etc

52.1 gn on a 24" barrel is suppose to do 3958 fps.

Just an up date on this.
Been out today and fired one Hornady superformance factory 58g v-max, and one 48gn home loaded hornady 58g v-max.
The reasoning here was to test my "ants" 300mmx11mm weaver rail drill for the Tikka action myself, im pleased to say its only 4 numbers out of centre on height, and 7 numbers to the right (Drone Pro 10x ), the 48gn home load was well under maximum load, and its was quite near the hole made by the factory load -------so with some tweaking its looking good.
With my home drilled weaver rail now being ok, ive loctited it on the rifle.
Next outing will be zeroing and load development.

great news dave.....you can up it abit as you are around 3500 fps and in the yellow on quickload

Sounds like good results but a contrary voice if I may?
I would use a faster burning powder.
I use 45.5 grains of H4895 under a 55 grain BT in my 243 and get 4025 fps.
I also use a ASE SL5i moderator and can see the muzzle flash under NV.
With 48 grains of a slower powder, resulting in a MV of 3500, I am guessing the load is lower pressure and there will be more unburnt powder coming out of the muzzle than with my load.
Are you seeing this flash with your mod and under your NV?
