I'm pleased it turned out well for you. Did PAYPAL ask any questions as to what the purchase was etc ? I really thought they would pull the firearm card on this one to wriggle out of paying.

GOOD DEALS...Here,post 6404
Good to see it worked out.
i linked the freeadd advert, told them it was a blackstar , but the seller never responded back to paypal as he would have had to give a tracking number. also are you sure a low powered air gun is a firearm? just read this.
Airgun power
The legal muzzle-energy limit for air rifles is 12ft.lb and for pistols, 6ft.lb. You do not require any form of licence for sub legal-limit airguns. For rifles producing more than 12ft.lb,a Firearms Certificate (FAC) is required. Air pistols that produce more than 6ft.lb are prohibited.

It is an offence under Section 21 Firearms Act 1968 as amended, for anyone convicted of a criminal offence, to handle, possess, or shoot a firearm and ammunition (this includes Air Guns). If the sentence was for more than three years the prohibition is for life; if less than three years the prohibition is for five years (note: it is the sentence, not the time served, which is the determining factor).
The organisation’s chairman, Peter Glenser QC, who specialises in firearms law, added: “In law, airguns are classified as firearms and are subject to all the criminal provisions of the Firearms Act. This is already a powerful penal statute and there is no need for further law. The solution has already been identified by Government as education and enforcement.”
Airguns in the UK are subject to the firearms acts, under the Firearms (Dangerous air weapons) rules 1969 they are classified as low powered Air
Weapons and as such they are restricted to a maximum power of 12 foot pounds force for a rifle and 6 foot pounds force for a pistol. Above 12ftlb a
rifle is classified as a Section 1 Firearm and requires a licence called a firearms certificate, and a pistol above 6ftlb is again a Section 1 Firearm
requiring a firearms certificate in the UK. The pistols bit is wrong Pistol over 6ftlbs are section 5
The definition of a firearm under the act is "a lethal barrelled weapon of any description from which any shot, bullet or other missile can be
discharged" it further defines "lethal weapon" as "a weapon capable of firing a projectile with sufficient force to inflict more than a trivial injury i.e..
with sufficient force to puncture skin".
The Home Office consider the lowest level of muzzle energy capable of inflicting a penetrating wound is one foot pound (1.35 joules) hence guns
producing less than 1ft/lb are not covered by the act and therefore not classified as air weapons or subject to any restrictions.
The 1997 Firearms Amendment Act made handguns illegal in the UK but Air Weapons were excluded under Section 5 (1) subsection (aba) "a
prohibited weapon includes a firearm with a barrel length less than 30cms and an overall length less than 60cms, other than an air weapon, a
muzzle loading gun, or a firearm designed as signalling apparatus".
I think the bits in blue covers it

All airguns are firearms. Those below certain power limits do not require a license.
It's important to remember this because you can be prosecuted under firearms legislation with an airgun not requiring a license. For example trespass with an airgun that doesn't require a license like a 3ft-lb air pistol is armed trespass and the sentence is dramatically increased.
Most of us know that an airgun is a firearm.
The real question is what do Paypal consider a firearm?
Also PayPal must have a policy where deliberate fraud is concerned whatever the alleged item.
They will not want their service to be used as a scammers tool.
I suspect the first answer is " whatever they feel like on the day" so that if it's an obvious outright scam they might ignore it to refund payment, provided they're not out of pocket.
But if it's more of a difference of opinion like whether it's excellent condition or not they can just say "firearms, you're both banned" to make the problem go away.
Ditto x2.
As a seasoned collector buyer/seller of over 350 postal deals, please can I now strongly recommend that -- notwithstanding Fees Free Friends & Family transactions with known trusted individuals (which you can not openly request here on the BBS as said payment systems have no come back) -- that you resist the temptation to use PayPal for any future air gun transactions, as you may not be so lucky a second time? Fantastic result here, however: good skittles.

Done my bit for the BBS: http://www.airgunbbs.com/showthread....-being-a-mod-… now I’m a game-keeper turned poacher.
Had nearly the same experience myself but as already been mentioned the combination of bad weather & comunication it sorted itself out but I was a little worried!!! Pleased it worked out for you👍
I do think they know it's used as a scammers tool but do nothing to stop it,the law does little to deter these people, having been involved in a case where the scammer was found guilty in court and ordered to repay the people he scammed me being one of them, filled in the relevant forms for the collection center in Leeds, had no more contact and am not holding up any hope of seeing anything returned, wished now I had taken the Paypal route rather than trying to have him prosecuted and convicted.
