I have been a springer shooter almost exclusively but a couple of years ago I bought a secondhand BSA Scorpion single shot, (not the SE, the earlier one) and it is spectacularly accurate (sub-10mm groups at 35 yards) with a superb trigger. It's a really well-made simple piece of kit. I think it was about £250. Of course you have to buy a tank or a pump, but for the outlay on a new TX200 or similar I have a really great rifle which is easy to maintain and a total pleasure to shoot. It is so good I never think about buying another PCP, that's it for me.

The only down side to it is that it has the odd size 14mm BSA scope grooves, so you have to buy a set of BKL mounts which are expensive but pure quality. Otherwise I cannot fault the rifle.
