Does this look like Venom work?

I’ve just opened up an old HW77k and found the following..

The rifle is very smooth to cock if somewhat ‘slammy’ the spring is a poorly cut down square section effort that looks thinner in wire section than the usual Ox, I think the piston seal has seen far better days.

Have I happened upon a Venom that has seen better days?

The piston and compression tube have been done by someone ( buttons and bearings). Didn't HW use square section springs for a period a good while back?

Yes I've had a couple of 77's and a 97 with factory square section springs in them and with guides they have shot very nice.
