I’ve just opened up an old HW77k and found the following..
The rifle is very smooth to cock if somewhat ‘slammy’ the spring is a poorly cut down square section effort that looks thinner in wire section than the usual Ox, I think the piston seal has seen far better days.
Have I happened upon a Venom that has seen better days?

The piston and compression tube have been done by someone ( buttons and bearings). Didn't HW use square section springs for a period a good while back?
