A few weeks ago I spoke to the RM/PF specialist Department that deals with "Restricted Goods" regarding shipping of a PCP Low powered Air Weapon.

The answer they gave was that they will not under any circumstances permit Carriage of a PCP Air Weapon if a "valved pressure cylinder (either empty or full)" is included in the package (their words not mine). This to me means that RM/PF will only carry a PCP if the cylinder is not part of the package, or alternatively, if the cylinder is included that at least one end is removed and it is shipped as an open tube.

To me that makes using their services "difficult" as removing a cylinder end might not be a straightforward job in some cases.

ps : regarding PF pricing, here's a link to an RM pricing guide that includes PF pricing as well. To use, enter the destination country, packaged weight and size categories, and out comes a table of alternative shipping methods, all priced up.

I've had both yes & no to PCP bottles cylinders,
Best I can say is that unless/until they state "guns for sporting use" does not include PCP's, it says it is legal to send "airguns".
So do everything correctly, empty it, declare it as a "gun for sporting use" as per their rules allow sent by PF48, and there should be no reason for it to be further stopped/inspected.

If you are so stupid as to lie about the contents or use a cheaper service to save a few pence, don't moan if it goes wrong.
otoh if you do things properly & something goes wrong you have sent an airgun as per their written rules state they accept them.
