Is it possible to use Chairgun to work it out? Surely it depends on so many different factors: start velocity, pellet weight, calibre etc.
Cheers, Phil
I've got a little experiment lined up to do but just wondering the maths side of things. What sort of power loss is there at 10yds & 30yds. I only need to know a rough idea.

As said above, it will depend on pellet weight, shape, velocity, calibre etc. Five minutes with Chairgun will give you your answers.
As for your experiment you don't say what it is you are testing but just one word of advice. Make sure you eliminate or minimise all unwanted variables which can effect your results otherwise your tests will tell you nothing or give you the wrong answers.
I don't need to know anything exact just a rough average idea. No clue about chairgun, I'm still in the clockwork era & such things are a mystical sorcery I dare not to venture into. Would 12ftb drop down to say 6ftb at 10yds onto 3ftb at 30yds sort of rough idea. My experiment has nothing to do with speed or power calculations, I just want a rough idea of power at a distance for a rough distance guide to start shooting at.

yeah go on and experiment.
Have fun and bugger the maths.
No maths needed I just need a starter reference point to begin.

I'm an utter luddite & chairgun is simple enough for me to use with a very good "help" section (idiot guide)
As Angrybear says for me but only from practical view tho' I've seen pellet specs in say .177 stating 50 ft/sec drop at each 10 yds up to 30 yds.
That’s about right.
Bellycrawler - see the article in the link below, especially the first graph of velocity v range for pellets at 800 and 600 FPS muzzle velocity. It has the merit of being written in fairly plain English, unlike a lot of stuff about ballistics, which I sometimes feel you need a degree in ballistics to understand.

If you have a chrony you could do actual checks with your rifle, don't shoot the chrony though!
Plinkerer and Tinkerer
Just checked on my cchairgunachairgun
at muzzle 10.9ftlb
10yrds 10.0ftlb
30yrd 8.7ftlb
Hope this helps.
Thanks all. Very helpfull.
