Is it compulsory and enforced by the law that you have to have air gun insurance when hunting with air rifle

Always had it.
It’s peace of mind for the landowner and it portrays the shooter as a responsible person.
It may also help secure that permission one is after.

To answer your question no it’s not compulsory in law.
But I have had land owners ask for it.
And if they want it they get it.

Not a legal requirement but more than advisable.
I've never been asked if I have cover, typical of farmers who can be a little cavalier.
Most landowners have dealings with major companies through their type of business. This is where being a member of BASC can help. Most, if not all, would heard of them and maybe a member themselves. Going back to the question asked, no but it gives peace of mind.
Why wouldn't you though? - about £30/year.
Does an FAC make reference to the holder requiring adequate insurance cover.
You would have to be some kind of special not to get cover in place
In a battle of wits I refuse to engage with an unarmed person.
To one shot one kill, you need to seek the S. Kill only comes from Skill
In Scotland, if you have a Air Weapons Licence, it is a condition that you (or the club etc) are insured. But you don't have to have an AWL if you are using someone else's gun with their permission. It is possession (owning, storing or transporting) that is illegal without an AWL, not shooting. And before anyone asks, no one knows exactly what 'transporting' means. If you bring a gun to a shoot or a permission in your car, on your own, then there's not much doubt, but is taking one step with a borrowed gun transporting it? Two steps? Crossing the field? Only the Courts can decide and as far as I know they haven't had to do so yet.
Makes just about as much sense as some of the Covid rules....
Having said all that, I would never shoot without insurance, and never have, AWL or no AWL.

There is no insurance arrangements conditions on other Airgun shooting conditions like vermin control .
