    .177 .22 poll

This is not a calibre debate but just a poll to see which calibre is used the most

Oooooh, that's a tricky one. Many of my guns (especially older ones) are .22. But I prefer to choose .177, so have voted for the lightweight calibre.

Used to be all .22 but the last 20 years have been .177 both target and hunting.

In general, .177 for everything at 12 ftlb. When I started out in pest control I did think I would want .25 for rats at close range with nv, but .177 seems to do that job just fine.

    Voted for .177" calibre.
There was a rule change in 2016. Any calibre larger than .177" now requires a firearms licence.

I voted for .177 based on the question posed in the poll. These days most of my air rifle shooting is either on my home range which a tad over 20 yards or at my club which is 25 yards. Pest control, when I do any, is .22 so usage is maybe 95% .177 and 5% .22.

This pole may be more valid if the it included .20" and .25" ?

I can change it to include them if the OP wishes ?

    All the best Mick

I have heard said, calibre preference is different across the regions of the UK.

I don’t know of any evidence to support or refute this - anyone with data?

And a nice, healthy enough looking lead for the .177 so far.
