    If you can get hold of a 1/2"UNF to 14mmCCW adaptor you can pick up cheap airsoft mods (which can look quite cool) and do exactly this. A few hair curlers, bit of felt and some washers. The HW mod is not much more complicated than this, though there is some trial and error involved if you want best results.

    Long & fat with minimum clearance between projectile & baffle dimensions. Baffle spacing is critical too. Actual material used for the outer sleeve can effect performance too. Filling the space between baffles can be a trade off in performance depending on materials used / volume it occupies / acoustic transmission to outer sleeve.

    It's a tinkerers dream project!
