    Wink

Maybe we should bombard HW with emails expressing our disapproval of, well pretty much all their stock designs!

The best they have done for each model imo are

HW30 - Saw one on a US YouTube channel, Paul something or other, he was a tuner and had an old one in for refurbishment. The stock was reminiscent of the original 77 stock, looked lovely,

HW50 / 99, anything but the current one, but if they did one similar to the one above for the HW30 then that would be my favourite.

HW35 old export or luxus stock.

HW77 the original one, still the best.

HW80 MK1 or MK 2 or best of all the R1 stock (think a theme is developing here) Though I would prefer a comb height suitable for scope only use.

HW97 The original with no checkering on the forend was my fave.

HW98 Don't like any of them but I did prefer the mk1, don't like the shape at the front of the current offering.

HW95 preffered the one prior to the current version, covered the breech, no cheekpiece. Or an 85 luxus stock like a 77 style but higher comb for scope use.

Not including the PCPs but I actually don't mind any of them too much.

More walnut offerings on springers would be nice and a final note on laser checkering, just because you can put writing in it doesn't mean you should!

I agree with every point you make - but this more than anything.
Writing, fish scales, scroll work and/or logos should not appear on woodwork.
In fact, laser chequering shouldn’t appear on any stock full stop.

Air Arms aren't much better. What is it with these firms?
Even Custom Stocks are ruined by the far too small blocks of chequering.

Edit to add: and the standard HW35 should have been left alone. People buy the 35 to have an old-school rifle. If they want modern efficiency they can have a 99S or a 95.
    Totally cringeworthy, isn't it?

    And agreed, Nikkormat.

Never mind, it'll push up the price of old HW stocks

They're both fookin' hideous computer designs. The chequering doesn't fit the lines and looks like Shreddies, and why do we have to have the name embossed in it? I hate the current fashion for "undercut" stocks anyway, and double cheekpieces even though I'm a lefty. The fore-end extension is just awful. I think the HW35 fore-end is even worse, that's really disgusting.

Why do modern designers think they have to change everything? It's like modern cars, they're mostly hideous as well.

Weihrauch's modern offerings are over designed, and a bit embarrassing.

I redrilled to stock for the front screws and relieved the stock to take the longer 80 action .......you can make a plate up to line up the front screws but the stock still modifying

Heres mine. Made little plates to move the front stock attachment holes forward so didn't have to drill extra holes in the forend. I had to extend the cocking lever slot, widen the area where the breech block goes in, file out radii for the pivot bolt and slightly extend the area for the cylinder. Looks nice but from a shooting point of view a 97 stock would give a higher comb.
