why are new guns so expensive there prices are mad
It's all gone crazy. Cost of materials, labour, heating premises etc etc. I don't think I'll be buying much gun related at all over the next few months. Waiting to see how much the winter is going to cost me in gas & electric.

Law of any kind only affects those willing to abide by it.
yes everything is to do with prices of labour now
I bought a brand new rifle the other week, first one I've bought new since the 1990s, luckily it was about the same price as a quality secondhand rifle nowadays, even those have gone mad in gunshops.
Far too many rifles to list now, all mainly British but the odd pesky foreigner has snuck in
Yes astonishing look at a new 97, then look at a new walnut tx or pro sport !
I remember buying a hw100 new around £700 ish they are over £1k now
Airgun Shooter magazine has a list of various bits of kit this month. I was amazed at the prices of pcps these days. Yes, you can get a pcp at the budget end of the list i.e. around the £500 mark but the number of rifles now costing £1200 and upwards is surprising. I looked at the listing and thought to myself that I was sadly out of touch. Being 'an old wrinkly' £1000 seems like a lot of money but maybe to the much younger generation it isn't. Maybe I should have realised this when I see adverts for kids' toys ... it seems nothing to pay around £100 these days.
Cheers, Phil
FYI, I paid $554.38 or £454.86 for my HW95L .22 back in 2020 from AoA. The price has gone up $40.00, £32.82, now.

Imagine if one bought a hw100 15 years ago and kept it. The money you would have saved! Nothing has surpassed a hw100 for £750 yet IMO
The Anschutz 9015 FT is over £3k and they can't even put a half decent cheek piece on it. Mach 1.5
I've not bought a brand new gun since 1983.
silly prices for some top end guns
The principal reason, I think, is the decline in the value of the Pound. You might recall that some years ago, £1 bought Euro 1.40 plus.
Transport and energy costs are a further factor, caused by the 'green' agenda and the Ukraine war, which have reduced the availability of traditional fuels.
I suppose, in due course, there will be a rise in second hand prices if this has not already occurred.
