I've always liked that knife that was named after that famous 19th century American frontiersman, Jim Bread.

I really like ' The Ballad of Mack the Knife ' and I'm really keen to know which members of this airgun forum share my appreciation of this song in all of its many variations....

If you mean the Louis Armstrong song, I like it a lot Richard. I also agree that knives (about which I know nothing) are used for the wrong things. I was given a lovely Gerber and all I use it for is opening parcels.

Webley service MkII's were cheap too with a few under £250 and one with 3 barrels for £800 but the high commission takes the price up considerably, I spent £400 that becomes £510

Well I bid a lot but won little!

It was a very 'international' auction. The auctioneer mentioned bidders from France, USA, Hungary, China (more than once) and maybe others that I can't remember.

There was also an interesting late model Weihrauch HW55CM, with angular target stock that went for £700 plus commission.

Nice to see the Beeman Blue Ribbon scope. Thought it would have gone for more. Hard to tell condition wise without seeing it in person though.
The SLR 98, boxed LP53 and HW55t all caught my eye

Was it nickelled? It didn't look it to me.

There was a lot of very cheap Webley pistols too so can only assume they were a bit untidy up close. In fact it was a very large collection with loads of boxed scopes too, wonder who was the vendor?

As has been seen before the gap between those items which are rare/desirable or in exceptional condition and the ordinary guns in average condition, continues to grow.

Simply demand v supply I guess, which ultimately determines prices. The BSA M/P @ £2700 was a case in point. Last year Holt's sold two in similar condition for £1700 & £2300 + Comm.

Good to see the superb Theoben SLR-98 getting the recognition it deserves, at least in financial terms. What price the better SLR-88 then - Best recoiling piston rifle out there.
