I have a 2018 in .177 that apparently has a TBT kit in it. Cocks and shoots very nicely. I bought it secondhand and it had about 5mm of barrel droop. Once I removed the barrel and sights, it was an easy fix because my barrel doesn't seem hard. Could the droop have been caused by someone being a bit too energetic whilst cocking it?
I wouldn't let a bit of barrel droop put me off buying a gun that I otherwise wanted.

They were famous for having it built in, not sure if on purpose. Sportsmatch even did compensatin mounts for them. Never been an issue for me on the ones I have owned and as you say wouldn't put me off.

The 35 is my fave (Old shool!!) HW springer!

John- To test the lock up, Hold the rifle by the pistol grip in one hand and drop the forend of the stock in to your other hand sharply, If the barrel pops open then most likely the larch spring has softened, I would think an original new part would be easy to get hold of though.

Here's the one I bought from John..

I noticed that it had a strange stamp on the breech block, Did a bit of Googling and found little about it, The 'EUSTA' in a diamond was a bit confusing as I could only find one other barrel with the same mark, I found info on a pistol, Eventually I did find some info on it but have now forgotten what it was as I didn't write it down!

Here's another, More common that the EUSTA, It's a Hofmann Premier, It's not in very good condition but the £50 I paid for it reflected in the condition!!

Here's another, This one had been heavily cammo'd, It was a devil to remove and the action needed a reblue, I had a go with the Ballistol Klever blue, It came out better than I would have expected but strangely, Three months later it had faded to a grey colour!

I found this one (4.5mm) on Facebook marketplace before the ban, It was only five mins from me on Ecclesall road in Sheff! It's now in a Luxus stock that I bought from IJ at Melbourne..

The Luxus stock needs the treacle effect covering removed as there is some nice grain below it!

This one is 4.5mm, I found this one also on facey, It was in Rotherham so only a twenty min journey!

35k in 5.5mm with a Webley pro system moderator that I since removed and sent to a facebook friend in Liverpool, He needed one and I wasn't using it!

My fave 35 is this 1970 Venom tuned and blued 5.5mm version, It was on a normal Export stock but I dropped on this lovely Luxus stock (On facey again!)

It has an O ring conversion among other changes and is so smooth to cock and shoot!

Almost forgot about this poor thing!, When I stripped it someone had put a blob of weld on the tail end of the piston slot, It probably wouldn't reach the full cocking stroke, This made it cock ok but it would have been easier and less messy just to replace the worn out cocking link pivot!!

Brilliant group of 35's John and pics to show them, that EUSTA stamp was a wee bit special !

And thanks for the advice regarding the "barrel-drop" test !

    Cheers,
    John.

Now that was a nice 35 stock! An the steel head o-ring conversion makes me think... How large is the transfer port on that one?

It will be generally used for both indoor and outdoor range work, not hunting and I may mount a small period scope on it after trying out the open sights.
    Hi John.

The HW35 changed from leather piston seal to nylon seal at serial number 843636.

Prior to the change the 35 had a 65mm stroke, 4mm transfer port (though you do come across 3mm ports) and a piston weighing something in the region of 265 gram.

After the change the stroke was stretched to 69mm, the port was shrunk to 3mm (though again there are exceptions) and the piston weight was lowered to about 220 gram.

I'd try to get a post serial number 843636 gun if I was after one.

    All the best Mick

I had a luxus when I was about 14.i had it super venom converted and found that it was fitted with a steel head and o ring. Ended up reverting it back to a leather seal piston, I know, I was only 14!!

    No problem, John.

Though my piston weights are way out, the synthetic sealed piston is still way lighter than the leather sealed piston.

I don't think you ever saw this HW35 of mine. :-

Called in at the gunshop today to check out the two 35's.

Both .22 Cal., one a K version, S/N 18***** and in very good order, bluing almost unmarked, stock similar with all parts present. £250
The other, an older long barrelled 35 version, S/N 11***** in a used condion, metalwork and stock showing obvious signs of wear with both rear and fore sights removed/missing. £199.

The barrel latches were positive, no droop, the later K version very positive !

The K version is obviously the better of the two air rifles and shows no signs of tuning or upgrading !

No facility to shoot either at the shop.

For the extra 51 quid, from what I could make out then.......Yes.

The older model was stamped "Made in W Germany" so thats obviously pre 1989 I reckon.
