Ive owned this Akela for a few years now, nice bit of walnut and fairly accurate but fussy out the box, .22 shotcount eas around 75 shots within 20fps but lots left if you wanted to just keep plinking

Ive fitted a Lane reg (£80) as its diy kit form and relatively easy, I then cut barrel length in half as I wanted it shorter, now shoots lovely and Im getting 250plus shots, gun has never leaked, burped or missed a beat, original mags still working fine. BigDans airguns has a mint used one in .177 for 399

Kral breakerpup just as good but barrel runs throughout chassis so trimming barrel or fitting shrouds a touch harder, again like all Turkish pcps they respond well to sub12 tuning and a reg, the npo3 is a good little gun to as is the regime from Rexi

Budget gun tinkering is addictive and fun

    Thanks Berber.
Good to read that there are other cheap skates out there.
I'll have a read up later.
    Thanks for your information.

Remember SMK don’t supply spares, Ive had issues with a few artemis/snowpeak guns and couldn’t get the bits needed, I did get a few bits from Greece and made other parts but Id never touch an SMK gun again. I did go directly to snowpeak and priced up every part for a p15 less the barrel and stock as they couldn’t send those direct, it came to $85 for all of it but my order got stopped as they then refused to send anything, I remember the block that I needed as it was wearing out was just $10

At least kral, reximex supply all parts, just something to keep in mind

Also have a look at the Kral Empire XS. Not regulated, but very good consistency.,

    Hm.

On the Kral Puncher Breaker. This then a 25cal, as i don´t live in Britain. Put it on a diet, for good reasons IMO. Run way different power level vs what you will but truth be told it´s a really nice rifle, as i removed a ton of weight.
Notorious for bending their loading lever and in turn bending their poppets. Both issues to my knowledge solved on later guns. I replaced the broken loading lever with a steel one off an Artemis/SMK M-16 and never looked back.
Valve in turn, on a whole, i modified to take a 2mm spindle poppet... and we´re getting out of bounds.
Suffice it to say that i run this unregged and use it for pest control only. Since i have a hard time keeping it UNDER 100J/70+fpe. Very stable setup, just.. runs.
The PB, to me, is a very solid piece of kit. Sure, i modified mine but.. no matter.. still a very solid piece of kit in my book.

Then the Reximex Throne gen 2 to me, the Ixia to you. Reximex and Kral, same owners - and it shows. I believe Reximex then intended to be a tad upscale the Krals and.. Design uses loads of close tolerance steel pins to keep stuff in place, and it works.
Build standard is quite high seeing what it is. Again though on the heavy side IMO just.. in the case of the Throne Gen2 it isn´t as simple loosing weight. My particular one a 22cal one and again modified to sling lead way faster than Reximex ever expected. Thus now due it being regulated sports a 100cc plenum chamber (vs the stock thing on like 25cc´s) Build as a whole though feels as solid as the PB, if not more really.
As i do work on PCP´s for a local vendor i´ve had them in the door with malfunctioning seals here n there but.. easy fix. Some of the early Rex stuff seems to lack in assembly QC as many of them are simply sloppy put together.
Ie; a good idea to just pick them apart as you see fit to make sure the various screws involved are tightened down as god intended.
Nice gun tho, albeit heavier in weight vs for instance the FX Impact.

Then for the Reximex Zone. An underdog if ever! As far as the build per se regard it as a much more modern take on the Artemis/SMK P-15/35. In fact between the two the WAY better design IMO. Can be had with a walnut stock too.
Yep. Regulated, just as the P-15, just way simpler to handle and adjust as the reg comes apart from the actual tube. My particular one there, again souped up and that massive added plenum on 145cc added is anything but stock.
But does it EVER haul! Not of interest to you, but that being said i have to go on record and state that the Zone IS an underdog beyond belief. It´s all there and the design is trued n tried to the bone.
Again a design mainly designed using pins instead of screws where applicable, and this is a good thing in my book. Simple to the build, meaning you can service most of it yourself when the need arise.
Fact is, were i let to pick between the Zone and the Ixia (with the Zone with a walnut stock that is) i´d pick the Zone to be honest. Sure.. more bells n whistles on the Ixia but.. Zone just gets the job done.
I presume, if not already, that there will be a "mid ship loading lever" conversion out sooner or later too.. Nah. Nice guns and thus far the ones i´ve had in the door has been to get them modified ONLY.
No service as far as leaks and what have you.
