Don't do them for the 35 either
Don't do them for the 35 either
I would like Custom Stocks to make a cs500 for a FWB Sport. I believe they have made them in the past but will not now.
I would also like one for a HW30 and a HW57.
I would image CS would have a certain number of stocks to manufacture in mind for a particular air rifle (in this case a HW 30) before turning in a profit taking into account setting up their production/admin side to accommodate it ?
Generally boils down to the demand I guess ?
Didn't the same situation not occur with the 99 as I don't think they made a stock for that air rifle initially ?

Hi Paul
I was wondering today if you could alter a HW95 or HW99 stock to fit the HW30 --- obviously this would involve drilling a new front stock bolt hole and chopping the forend down but it could be doable.
The stock bolt holes are 7" apart on the HW99 --- what spacing are they on a HW30 ?
All the best Mick
Yes - and this is exactly why they're wary of offering the service again.
Many years back, CS said if they had pre-orders of ( from memory ), thirty stocks, they would put it into production.
There was a petition created asking for names of who would buy a CS stock for the HW99 and well over thirty people added their name. So CS duly invested the time and cost to set up the necessary jigs and inlets.
From those thirty names, just six people actually followed through with purchasing their orders ( myself included )...
I dare say they've sold a ton of them since but it's not a good show and must have set a few pulses racing at CS.
Put on heading 270, assume attack formation
One would guess that the 99 one might make the more likely donor due to its similar layout, Mick. But I also wonder if the action OD might be different or not? Rationalisation of production might point to them being the same, but I think it'd need checking? Although, even if the 30's action was of slightly smaller OD, this might then lead to some extra bedding medium, which might not be a terrible thing anyway?

I fully understand and appreciate the position and I did order a CS500 for my 99 though I can't remember signing a petition. I'm not sure the 30 would make them a fortune either. I assume they have NC machines there for all the inletting and roughing out so the investment is in the programming, but you've got to speculate to accumulate. I once asked about a stock for a Diana 34. These have sold in vast numbers all over the world and most had very plain stocks indeed so I thought there could be a market but they weren't interested in the 34 either.

Did any of the “30 odd” commit a deposit ?
I suspect not but it could be a way forward in future ?

Very good point, Maestro Mick. And it may well be that they are the same OD. I / someone will need to take some measurements to check. I just have a weird feeling that the cylinder walls will not be made from thicker material on the little 30, leading me to wonder if the OD will be smaller?
