Lovely, handy and robust little mod !
Great when you can make something for little more than time and some skill.
My mate's been borrowing a very handy compact little 1/2" UNF silencer off me for a while.. it's about 2.5" long and around 1" OD, and works perfectly fine on a springer, without unbalancing it.
We've both been looking for something similar for ages, but the closest is the swift stumpy, which is still a lot bigger.. or the manders, which aren't made any more, and are still ~4" long.
Then he had a brain wave... Could I just cut down a std Parker Hale MM1 moderator ? PH even kindly provide a "cut here" line in the middle, so I did exactly that.
Threading the remaining section at 32 tpi (sorry about the "non standard" thread) to refit the endcap was a bit tricky in terms of setup time, but not hard to execute.
I love the result so much I'm going to make a couple more now

Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

Lovely work.
I’ve used MM1’s on my Titans for years. I consider them the forerunner to the HW mod.
Put on heading 270, assume attack formation
Nice work JB and doubles up as a muzzle weight. Mach 1.5
Great idea and very nice work.
And introducing it's little brother, mini-manders...
I'm going to stop now.. just because I can, doesn't mean I should

you can, yes.. but need to add a spring/sleave/spacer to create the initial large chamber, as there's a restriction in the factory tube (now machined away for the thread) that provides a stop in the original version.
Spring, plus 3 baffles, seems to work fine. But tbh, zero baffles are fine too, as springer's don't need that much moderation...
