Bull's Eye Pistol with Rubber Band Power Source

In his book ' Textbook of Pistols and Revolvers' Major Julian S.Hatcher of the US Army Ordnance Department mentions a toy pistol called the 'Bull's Eye' which uses a rubber band as a power source and No.6 chilled shot as ammunition.

The pistol was sold with knock-down celluloid song-birds as targets and was intended to be used at a range of ten feet. The author instructed his two young lads in safe gun handling then allowed them to practice for a week with the pistol. They became proficient with the toy and were able to knock the targets down consistently.

He found after a week they had learned the rudiments of pistol shooting and were able to hit plinking targets and make a reasonable group on paper with his .22 rimfire target revolver.

The Bull's Eye pistol was patented in the USA in February 1924. There is one on the Bay in the USA for $199 at the moment if anyone wants to have a look. Must be the simplest air-pistol ever, even simpler than the Milbro squeeze fire pistol.

I had one of those in it's original box with all the birds and targets, but sold it on, but l still do have a pistol without the box, there was another maker that used the same power of elastic bands that predates the Bullseye, they can't be classed as a air pistol, as no air is used to fire the lead shot.

Interesting they were sold here too.
