being local I can advise on the area a little if it helps.

Great western (mount pleasant hotel) is about 5/6 miles of miles out of town but very nice if you run out of options, and please do not leave your guns or valuables in your cars overnight wherever you stay, especially town (its not really a city despite what Doncaster council call it) centre area, but the PREMIER INN DONCASTER CENTRAL (not lakeside Premier inn as it is at least 20 minutes walk to town if not driving) is probably your best option with a large carpark opposite. I use this to book staff in when they come from other areas. I wouldn't stop on any of the hotels on Lakeside as a first choice though if it was me, you are well out of Town and the opposite side of town to Brians range.

Quite a few good places to eat around that area, Nether hall road, High street and the Frenchgate shopping centre area.

I'm not a town dweller but I can advise if you need to check anywhere out. I work 2 miles from Brians range and and live about 9 miles to the East. Hope this helps a little.

PS the stairs to Brians range are heavy going and could be a limiting factor for someone not very mobile. But Brian and Leanne and the team are very welcoming and lovely to deal with.
Thank you for this excellent insight, Dean.

    Thumbs up It's a go!

    All good; we're on.

I've had word back and we can book a couple of sessions on the Saturday.

Cost will be dependant on how many come, but we can have nine lanes.

Leanne suggested the 38 yard lanes would be better for us as this will give us more room to mingle / chat etc. when not shooting. I agree and have said yes to this.

Not sure if we then book in the normal way or if a further message from us will sort it. I have messaged back to check.

On the Saturday, the sessions start at 9.00am, 12.00 noon and 3.00pm. What would suit most?

Sorry, forgot to say. A big thank you to Leanne and Brian. They're lovely people and happy to host us and let this happen for us. Very smooth and efficient.

We just need to sort those timings.

Ace. Thanks, Pete. Your attendance is most valued, sir.

I suppose with anything like this, there will always be winners and losers, but a date has to be set. I also think the 18th is looking good. I haven't got a clue whether I'll be able to book that day off, but would be hopeful. And my manager has air rifles!

The main thing for me was to ensure that the date chosen is okay for Neil so that he can just turn up and enjoy in recognition of all the hard work and planning he puts in on our behalf to run the Bash for us.

    9.00 or noon start?

    Is the question.

Just thinking about those with longer journeys who are travelling on the Saturday.

From a personal point of view, I'm easy, as I'm under 40 minutes away (and the traffic's also dead easy on a Saturday morning), but just wondering what works best for peeps coming from further afield?

    Can I ask for a 9.am start?
If I am staying overnight it's a bit of a waste to only be there half day

This is excellent news. I also thought the 38 yard range would be better because there is a fair bit of space behind the lanes for mingling, chatting & drinking coffee, the longer lanes have a tight corridor behind them.

I think booking the whole day would be better, even if some can't be there as early as 9am, pushing it right back until 12 noon is a bit late. Booking the morning would mean people can rock up mid morning & still get a bit in before lunch.

Then comes the thorny problem of paying for this, atm all I can think is that Brian & Leanne give us a price for the whole day on the 38 yard range , and then we do a roll call & see who is going, then divide the cost by the number of attendees .

Tony is getting a price & it's looking good, I'll pay for that & then we'll divide that by the number of people going. If more people decide to come there will be refunds or maybe a charity donation ?

I'll post all the costings to keep it fair & above board.
