    Thumbs up

All my rifle slips have a ziploc bag with a cloth with some ballistol on within. Great for wipe down when done!

I use it on an oily rag (microfibres cloth) that I keep in a ziplock bag. However it’s really a blend of Ballistol, Abbey 35, Parker Hale Express and Napier Power oils. Actually mix them all in a dropper bottle to top up the rag. Works great on the external surfaces.

It's similar to an American recipe called Eds Red.

I dissolve as much 100% pure technical grade Lanolin in White Spirit as the spirit will carry, run it through a paper filter, then add a little Dexron 3 transmission fluid. It dries to a slightly waxy finish, not the most attractive, but it sheds water like a ducks back.
This is pretty much the same recipe my mate showed me - I run it through some sprayer bottles from garden centres. Works out to be about a tenth of the price of gunshop bought stuff.

John, I'm intrigued.....Josie uses it on the doggies? Pray tell!
We have 2 German Shepherds and I think it helps with their coats. The Ballistol she uses are like wet wipes I think and she gets them from one of the traders at Kempton.

I love the smell of the stuff as I'm sure Dad used it when I was very young. The smell has stayed with me all that time.

Currently looking for Baikal Makarov pistols with the following prefixes to the serial number: 98, T01,
Prefer boxed or cased but will consider loose examples too.

Its pretty good for leather gun slings too and recently I applied it to the leather strappings on two Brady bags which rejuvenated them a treat.

Ordered early afternoon yesterday. E-mail received to say they've been delivered this morning. Usual brilliant service and communication from JSR.

Only for barrel cleaning. Used it for surface protection too but still got some slight rust. Now use Gunnex for that. Was nr 1 in some rust test.

    Thank you.

Yes, scent is such a strong sense and can get / keep those memories flooding back, John.

We also have a German Shepherd. But I bet my wife will complain about the strong odour, from what others have said, so doubt I'll get to try it on him.

I find that a sherry glass full consumed on the porch, as the sun sets and the baboons lark about in the jacarandas,
    keeps me regular.

For me it’s Alfred J. Parker's Anti-Corrosive Gun & Rifle Oil that brings back memories- I find the smell of that addictive. Shame it’s no longer made since Edna P passed on. I have a half tin left that I daren’t use up (I now use other solvents and Rangoon oil if I want to coat a bore).

I use it on the outer surfaces of my guns as a shooter and my knives and cutting tools as a bushcrafter. It's good on wood, metal, leather and plastics and is supposedly food-safe.
