    Hi Ernie,
Some models of good modern airguns still being sold have a good pedigree dating from back then, have a look at dai leisure or the like and put what you are interested in up on here for user review,

    Cheers, Mark.

So, this is a high quality, solid rifle. As said, made in Germany and oozing quality. A massive step up from all of the budget offerings mentioned. It isn't light, but balances well. It's a gas ram, so the firing cycle is short and sharp, but never harsh. Cocking effort is stout-ish. The breech lock is very solid. The barrel is most certainly a good one, helping deliver excellent accuracy with a wide variety of pellets. And that accuracy is aided by that most important of features, as Alistair has mentioned, the T06-derived trigger. Super crisp, precise and creep-free.

A quality act for budget gun money whilst still available.

Here's a vote for a Remington Express I recently bought one from ARC tuning and I have to say it just gets better every time I use it the accuracy is just great.

If you can get a decent second hand Walther LGV (Walther dropped out of the springer market for some inexplicable reason) it is easily one of the most accurate springers about. Steer clear of CO2 if you are planning on shooting outdoors.

A secondhand bsa lightning will be within your budget, highly recommend them as a small, lightweight reliable springer and also well made

    Definitely consider the Hatsan range.
    I have a 1000s striker in .25.
With minimal work(less than the 14 weihrauchs I've had) on the trigger and a relube and piston liner it's great.
I'm considering a 125qe as I've always wanted a webley patriot but it's fac, a real heavy beast, the 125 is near as damn it the same dimensions in 12ftlb,definitely a bench rest rifle.
