    Forum fugitive introduction

Hi, I'm in Spain and I have a couple of air pistols* whose primary purpose is have some practice in handling pistols while I save up for a firearms license ... or more accurately, I've told myself that I need to sell some unwanted stuff first, as motivation to de-clutter! I need the practice because the first time I tried shooting a real pistol I couldn't hold it steady single-handed for more than a couple of shots, whereas now after regularly playing in the back garden I can manage a full session without too much trouble.

I really enjoy target shooting at 10m with the air pistols at home, but what I'd really like to do is Practical Pistol competition - I'm surprised there's no air pistol equivalent to that! The closest I could find was for airsoft guns and it doesn't look very engaging at all.

I've come over here after being banned from another air pistol forum, for saying that I think people who have swastikas on display in their house are creepy. I'm hoping that the sentiment on this forum is more in line with my beliefs.

    * I have a DW715 replica and a cheapo Snowpeak SP500 ... thinking about getting a semi-auto too at some point, but being a lefty I'm somewhat hung up on not being able to swap over the mag release on most replicas.

Something like HW45 might give something approximately to the weight of a real pistol, but target pistols for 10M shooting tend to be PCP air pistols in .177 calibre. A HW45 also has a kick that you need to learn to tame to shoot it accurately.

Hope you have a better time on this forum, I too was kicked off another forum for making a political statement in the private part of the forum that is invisible to people who are not logged into the forum. I was quite surprised as I had seen several posts by others in the private section that I didn't morally agree with yet those people are still on the forum to my knowledge.

Thanks Not every aspect of life here is nice, but there's a good ratio of sun to rain!

Thanks for the advice I looked very seriously at the HWs before plumping for the Snowpeak - if I get another air pistol it'll be a replica, though. Handling the DW715 on a regular basis made a big improvement in my comfort of shooting a S&W 357 Magnum with the weight, reloading, grip, sight picture, etc being very similar it meant I could concentrate on the important part of actually hitting the target! I'm not after being competitive with airguns, so that's enough for me

As for talking politics, a good faith discussion with someone you don't see eye to eye with can be constructive, or at least informative. To me, though, to speak one's mind in the middle of a relevant discussion and then be banned (and have all mention of you erased) shows that what is valued there is power rather than honesty.
