Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

Looking down it with a torch I can tell at the barrel end it’s been hammered possibly as a last resort after the rod broke in the other end! It’s a .177 original barrel with quite nice bluing so I have thought about melting them out but don’t want to ruin the finish so I am a bit wary of using heat. I have seen people use hydraulic grease/oil pressure with a custom made attachment on the lathe work for bullets so I could knock one of those up and use the pump off the hydraulic press to try and squeeze them out if anyone has tried similar before. I did see the brass tube guide method but being a .177 there is not much room in there for drilling.

Any other ideas or do I just have to melt them out!
I have had several rifles brought to me with up to 4 mags of pellets stuck down the bore. What I use to remove them in 177 is 5No, 100mm lengths of 4mm bright bar. Using these, the first one can be inserted into the bore and hammered flush with the end of the barrel and then the next one placed end for end with the one in the barrel and then hammered and so on. Using this bar, if the first one has a square end with a very small chamfer on it there is no chance of damaging the rifling due to the small amount of clearance between the rod and the bore. Being only 100mm long the rod can be hammered without bending. I assume the same would work with a 22 barrel using 5mm bar.

This would definitely be in a landfill somewhere if it was me.
