Try to get to handle and try out before buying. Gas ram rifles don't twang as some springers might out of the box, but their quicker / sharper firing cycles may or may not suit you. Gamo gas rams will be of the sealed unit type so you won't be able to tweak the power output if it isn't to your liking. The Gamo set-up, with the very light piston, will tend to favour light pellets.
Some of the Gamo break barrel rifles now employ a plastic breech block arrangement. It might be perfectly fine, I don't know, but I'd be more confident of longevity with a sturdier steel one.
Although not local to you, it might be worth considering the Diana AM03 from NM Products up near Sheffield. It's a chunkier, heavier, German made gas ram that's really solidly constructed. Superb trigger and very accurate. Being offered for around half of the original RRP, and a bargain at £180. You might be able to arrange a transfer to a more local RFD? All the usual caveats of gas rams (especially sealed unit types) apply.

Here's a link to that listing for the Diana:-

P.S.....I'm not linked to them in any way but a satisfied owner. And I think they're in .22 flavour only. Mine prefers JSB Jumbo RS pellets.

P.P.S.....Be prepared to, maybe, have to glue the cheekpiece to the adjuster posts.

There are a couple of polite answers right there.

“Best gas ram gamo for quality” is a bit like “Best breed of dogshit for the tastiest sandwich”.
One might be considered better than another by a connoisseur, but to us mere plebs they are all pretty awful! I do know the older ones are nicer

Cometa are a lot better and quite good value, I tested a sub £100 rifle that was ok a couple of weeks back too. The name escapes me for the moment though….

    Gas ram

Never seen the cometa range before. They certainly look good quality compared to my crossman. Diana also looks a good make.

Of all the currently available gas ram air rifles, if budget allows my first choice would be the Weihrauch HW90.
Second choice the Diana Mauser AM03.

    Gas ram

The Diana is very good but seems only comes with a synthetic stock. I cant afford a weirauch so thinking about a cometa fusion gas ram.

I would avoid anything Spanish built.
Gammos are awful guns to start with, let alone a rammer, (imho).
