Cadet Major sights question

Firstly--does anyone know the sizes of the dovetails?

Secondly, does anyone know of a sight off another gun that fits? I know some Ruger rear sights will fit some guns.

What I'm actually after is a front sight that will fit the dovetails and is fairly low-------as I'm intending to shoot with just the front sight. A broken front sight would probably do, but I'd be interested to know any other info as it would be handy for sorting out plinking guns fairly cheaply (hopefully).

My only Cadet Major has the front sight mounted and loath to drift it out specially - however, whilst not a micrometer measurement, the base of the dovetail appears to be 3/8 inch.

No point looking at the standard cadet as they have a much longer dovetail. However, the front sights on the pre war BSA's also appear to have 3/8in dovetails so a broken one might suit.

A broken front sight would be good to file down to the height I'd want for plinking.
