    Airgun looks

Following on from another thread where the saying 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder' was said, what airgun do you think is ugly ? You might own one that is as accurate as can be, but is 'a rear end of a bus '.
Does looks make you a better shot ?
I don't think I've owned an ugly gun, probably wouldn't of bought it in the first place, but I did think my FX Bobcat MK2 was a beaut. Performed as good as it looked ( nearly said she ' )

I recently purchased the Wray Gun (s/n 003, as per Danny’s site) from slug-gun. Ergonomics are great. Looks are terrible.

Bear in mind this is a Holts photo, so they always make guns look better than they actually are…

Don't know the Bobcat so I've just googled it,
To you a "Beaut", but to me it's a pig ugly slab, but then it's a bullpup & I don't think I've ever seen a bullpup that's not pig ugly.

You've already answered the premise of the question, "Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder" , Yes, 100% very much so.
    and
"If it was ugly I wouldn't have bought it in the first place" which is slightly less cut & dried, because there will always be someone who buy's something simply because it's the latest "must have" & they want to show off
but in general it's also true.
I've never owned or shot an HW100 because I've never seen a good looking one, the same is true of a MK1 Rapid,
yet I think the shrouded MFR is one of the best looking air rifles ever made, moreover I think my MFR with it's green painted stock is the best looking of them all,
because I'm the one beholding it

I often compare my MK1 Cricket to a 70's Teac sideboard, it's certainly not going to win any awards for it's stylish looks, but the thing is, nothing i've pointed it at and pulled the trigger has ever got back up and complained, so i'll accept i'm outvoted.

I have an AGT Vixen (long) that I will always think is a bit of a minger looks wise- I think I described it to Dougiefn12 as having "fallen out of an ugly tree, hitting every branch on the way down". BUT...

It's amazingly consistent and ridiculously accurate at ranges beyond what I'd normally call 'the limit' for a sub-12 air rifle. Paired with a DNT Arken Zulus, it really doesn't miss much.

I've also got a Rapid Mk1 which I once thought of as ugly but now love, and a HW35e which many would describe as ugly but I also love.

I think the prettiest air rifles I own are all BSA-
    Airsporter Mk2
    Mercury S
    Airsporter S

I'd take any of the 1st three listed out hunting but none of the last three. Go figure...

    We're talking about airguns.
I had both an AA Prosport and a TX200HC. I thought the HC was better looking, it just looked right.

I'm torn on that one. I've had 3 or 4 TXHC's and love them (especially the first one in 1996, wish I still had that one) but do love the sleek lines of a Prosport.

I've never owned a PS but given my track record on chopping & changing, it's probably inevitable that'll happen one day

Like you've said Paul, the Airsporter is up there with the Mercury S (has to be the mk2 though, asit has a nicer front end to the stock), BSA spoilt the Challengers lines and the later Airsporter with the maxigrip rail and the higher trigger block, The Prosport still has to be the best looking of all of them.
Far too many rifles to list now, all mainly British but the odd pesky foreigner has snuck in

I’ve never owned a PS, but I do like their looks.

Among factory rifles, not customs, the (Birmingham) Webley Tomahawk has very nice lines and both handles and shoots well.

Yep, agree with that Pete. I much prefer the Mk1 & Mk2 Airsporters, they just look and feel right. I had the chance of a Challenger a while back but bought the Mercury S instead, and glad I did

Is the Prosport what a modern day Airsporter 'could' have been? That's a whole extra can of worms

Alot of PCPs and Tacticool look guns just don't do it for me (yes I'm aware my MP5K, MP7 and MP9 are all tactical looking but they get a pass), I tend to prefer more traditional looking guns, quite partial to Lever actions and stuff like old Break barrels etc.
I do like Retro-futuristic designs too so if a gun looks like that it tends to get a thumbs up from me.

    Beautiful.

And I'd have to put the Venom Mach rifles right up there, plus a fair few Venom and Airmasters classic custom springers.
