A bit of history regarding the Walther/Umarex relationship... (models 88 & 99)

Turning his around- or us that are still allowed to own cartridge firing weapons, it is clear that Walther is not Walther anymore under Umarex ownership.
Walthers used to be high quality machined steel guns, and both post and prewar PPs and PPKs were really nice guns.
The recent PPKs are made more like the co2 versions, with cheaply cast parts and little use of traditional materials.
I understand that modern throwaway economy dictates this, but Walther is not Walther anymore.

Interesting, its a shame to hear that. Do you think the latest Walther pistols (PPQ & PDP) are just being produced to a price point mainly to obtain European law enforcement contracts, rather than trying to appeal as a premium brand to private buyers?

With Umarex owning Walther they are quite within their right to sell Umarex manufactured Walthers as the real thing.

The real thing?.. there is practically zero connection between Walther's firearm production and their branded CO2 guns.
They're not even produced in the same factory.
They're produced in the same factory as all Umarex's other licensed copies...the only difference is they get a free license.

I'd love a look around both firearm and co2 pistol manufacturing facilities to see the differences!

One will be full of diecast pot metal and plastic castings and self-tapping screws and the other won't have any of the above present and will be using high quality aluminium, stainless and steel components.

If you want to see a TRUE firearms quality airgun - you need to get your hands on a slant grip Webley Senior or one of the now banned Brocock Orion pistols that were made from converted Weihrauch firearms.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I owned a couple of Brocock revolvers back in the day, and as I posted above had a lot of fun shooting real handguns as a child including a proper PPK. Incidentally i've also owned pretty much every Webley pistol made, including a boxed Target that I recently sold to a nice member on here - but know what? I enjoy shooting the co2 guns as much as anything, its called fun!

Unfortunately your posts make no mention whatsoever of the fun element of shooting, I suspect your missing out.

I put up the OP for interest of others who like me didn't know about the Umarex/Walther relationship. You have jumped on it, been argumentative and deliberately tried to pull it apart, but you've also made it absolutely obvious you have no actual interest in these types of guns and seem to hold them in contempt.

So I suggest you now go get a cup of cocoa, and sit back gazing at your lovely old 'non-Turkish' Webleys.

As for me i'm putting you on my ignore list, as you've just left a negative impression.

I've been quite civil and merely given a counter-point that your link was far more tenuous than you are making out.

Still, you'll not be missed... especially as you know nowt about me or the CO2 replicas or anything else I own.

However, unlike you I'm not a sad little Walt who thinks his Walthers are somehow closer to their real firearms because of a bit of marketing BS.

As for the 'fun' part - it's funny... its the first time you've mentioned it
