    I've joined the HW30 club

Not had a springer for a while but after all the good comments with no negative grumbles about the HW30 I put a wanted add on here. Picked up today, a quick few shots at a target showed it likes hobbies, an absolute joy to cock & shoot. I was trying to sort a scope on another rifle at the time so I tried ftt & bizmags. They were a tight fit compared & shot absolutely awfully. Oh deary me I need to pellet test to find the holy grail. Oh dear, never mind, needs must.

    They are nice guns!
Try JSB 7,33 RS or 7,89 Express, they are accurate and well suited to smaller guns.
    Too many airguns!

Congratulations on your 9000th post. Nothing wrong with joining the club…they’re a jolly nice rifle. Mine seems to like AA Diabolo Field 4.51.

I have the mighty all powerfull .22 version. I would of been happy with either but it was local etc I have a good stock of different pellets to try in both .177 &.22 I might be busy for some time.

Congratulations on passing the 9000 posts marker.

And a warm welcome to the HW30 Owners Club. Not an exclusive club my any means these days as more and more people have been seduced by the charms of this demure, sweet shooting little rifle.

Mine are awesome with the Hobby. As mentioned above, most definitely worth trying with the JSB Jumbo RS and Express. The FTT in smaller head size might be okay but I'd regard the Bisley Magnum / H&N Baracuda as being too heavy for the rifle's modest output and light piston.

The only possible Achilles' heel might be "galling" or rubbing of the cocking lever on the cylinder. There have been threads on this in the past and an excellent Tinbum Tuning video. Get this checked / addressed and then be happily reassured that all is good.

    Enjoy this beautiful rifle.

I love mine! The rest of my springers rarely come out now, but the 30 is by the door with a tin of pellets ready for action

Yep. As you know, Nick, the superb little '30 can just about do it all, apart from produce "close to the UK legal limit" power. And it delivers so sweetly. The firing cycle is usually nicer on these than most "super-tuned" larger rifles producing more power. They can perform brilliantly at closer ranges at open sight disciplines, with those genuine one-hole groups a reality and with minimal movement and sight picture disturbance.

Out in the open, wearing a scope, they perform superbly even out to longer ranges, as many have demonstrated over the years at our Boinger Bash events. Again, that super-uber-precision and minimal disturbance make it a joy. And the low cocking effort helps on those longer sessions, making it all the more enjoyable and never hard work.

At around 8ft.lbs in .22, the power output is actually ample for hunting typical airgun quarry at realistic ranges. And, again, the ease of use and also ease of carry make it an ideal companion.

The only area it may suffer in, ever so slightly, in my view, would be in windier conditions at range, where the lower velocity as compared to a more powerful larger rifle, exposes the pellet to the effects of the wind for longer.

Other than that, I actually don't think that it's too over the top to suggest that it's all the gun most of us actually need.

    I love 'em!

I'm going to go through my pellet collection & see what it likes. I picked uit up en route to my perm so only tried what pellets I had with me. In no rush it's for long term plinking joy through the summer months. It's had a light fettle so good to go.

Not a gun I’m familiar with although I did once borrow one for a short time some years back. What is the preferred calibre for general usage as I might have a delve ?
