    Hw99 strip down

Hello ,i am hoping someone on here can help me out of this embarrassing situation. Long story short my 81 year old dad has decided he misses shooting and has just purchased a 99 ,he asked me to drop a tin bum kit in which I have just done . All went well until after putting it all back together I found a small steel tube size wise it’s 10 mm length 6mm across 4mm inside . I will try to put up a picture. I can’t recollect seeing it when I stripped the gun the only thing I can think is that it’s dropped out of the trigger unit .
I have cocked the gun then decocked it and everything seemed to work as it should do any suggestions will be gratefully received .

Hi Duncan. Sounds like one of the tubes out of the trigger cage which the pins go through to hold the unit in place. Mach 1.5

Thanks for that it was sort of the direction I was leaning as I couldn’t remember seeing it when I stripped the gun . Must have fallen out in the box . Cheers again

I'd guess trigger unit too. The front one doubles up as the top sear pivot, but it might be the second one has dropped out (though I'd have thought you'd notice it being less secure after reassembly).

If all else fails, ring the 0800 number on the box, in the instructions and smattered all across the internet.

    I am here to help

Well that’s exactly what it was . Noticed the trigger unit had play as soon as I dropped the stock off , to my shame I didn’t pick up on it when I reassembled it !
    Thanks again

Glad to hear you got to the bottom of it.

99s are fantastic. And even nicer once you've been inside, degreased and fitted a good kit. Hope Dad loves it.

If he ever wants to pair it up with an even lighter and very, very sweet shooting rifle, get him a HW30 as a birthday treat too.
