    R7 problem.

Recently my R7 .22 started playing up. No problems then first of 3 was low shot count. Run low on its 3rd mag (fac with small buddy bottle) where normaly its OK & get possibly 4 mags worth of air. I fill to 190 simply to fill all my rifles the same rather than keep tabs on individual rifle pressures. 2nd of 3 the 1st mag was OK then lost air due to the buddy bottle come loose. 3rd of 3 1st mag OK, each single shot I nipped the buddy bottle up, verry little movement but it was there. 2nd mag first shot was OK but air dropped after the first shot more like plummeted. I first suspected the buddy bottle valve & will check it later. Is there anything else it could be ? It appears to hold air when not in use. Allthough it's fac, fast flow valve, it's the same as a legal limit fault. Any ideas ? I don't know / understand the workings of a pcp, just slowly learning.

If the bottle is coming loose, that's your problem because it shouldn't
I have to clamp the stock between my knees & use both hands to initially twist the bottle when it's sealed & pressurised.

Either you aren't tightening it up fully to start with, or the threads are shagged.

..or the o-ring on the bottle is so worn it's not gripping / sealing / working at all...
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

In which case surely you'd hear the hiss of escaping air
but I'd still expect the pressure to hold the bottle quite firmly.

I agree, but as this is a pretty weird scenario, I'm fine with suggesting it's worth checking....

This. The early bottle adaptors have an adjustable pin that pushes on the bottle valve, these can come loose overtime and need readjusting. A bit of loctite will ensure it doesn't move again.

It's a Mk1 so early valves. I've checked the buddy bottle valve, no leak, the o ring looks OK but I will replace soon. I assumed some internal fault as it was a sudden increased air use / loss. I'm haveing another try to.orrow & make sure the bottle is screwed down tight. Maybe my brain went auto pilot don't over tighten mode a simple schoolboy error ?? Tommorrows update will be a red faced oop's moment admission or questions all about energising the valve workings.

Nearly an ooop's schoolboy error.tightened the buddy bottle as needed. Checked everysot 1st mag, no movement. No drop with 4 mags but sounding a bit limp on the last few shots. Even though I was holding the buddy bottle I found it was loose at the end of the session. I started to unscrew it & the air released after a few twists. My fault entirely but it still come loose. Putting a new o ring on before trying again. I blame useing tube pcp's recently & simply forgot the needed method for it to be a problem as per my original question.
