R10se shooting at half power? J.B Reg

    Hello all,
Ive had my R10se in storage for couple of years without dry firing it, its now running around half power over the chrono, its got the J Bowkett reg in it. When i had him do his stuff on it about 8yrs ago it was all good, then if i remember right it started to play up a year or so later and i sent it back to John. He told me there was a hair line crack in the reg i think? and he put another in it, and once again it was all fine.

Anyway its now shooting at half power and i was wondering if anyone knows what could cause this? I doubt hammer spring slip could give me this much power loss?

If its the reg causing this? i was thinking of getting a different one fitted because J.B is retiring i heard. So i was looking at the rat works supplied APEX reg, the Lane reg or the Huma?

    Cheers m

reg seals could have failed, causing full pressure to the valve. With the hammer set up for a much lower reg pressure, it would barely have the energy to open the valve at the higher pressure, causing low power.

Shoot the gun down to to 120 BAR, see if power comes back up.. that'll confirm if that's what's failed.

The other reg failure scenario is is shutting off at a much lower pressure. In that situation, the above test would show no power increase.
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

The reg. ball valve O ring may well have hardened preventing faithful operation. Sadly if the reg. 'accumulator' pressure has leaked it's not an easy fix for tinkerers.
Itching to try belleville stack in one that's been lying here for some time.
In our, limited, experience the R10 ideal operating pressure is quite low say 70 bar

Im going to do shed tuner's above test over the weekend and see what happens? but if it is the JB reg that has failed (again), im thinking of just using a different one altogether. I like the sound of the rat works apex reg? or Lane, or Huma. I have the huma in my scorpion, and that has been in storage too, but it still works ok.

Cheeky ask. Do you have the original BSA parts and if so will you sell please?
