They work great on pistols and can be a life saver if you can't use open sights any longer. You will cut your groups sizes in half. But be warned if you are a bit older there's a good chance you have astigmatism. Most older eyes do. A lot of people blame the sight when they look through it and that nice round red dot looks more like a chevron or uneven mess rather than a dot. I'm in that boat myself. My eye doctor had a special coating put on the lenses of my glasses that clears that up. It also helps when you drive at night. If you've ever noticed the headlights coming at you have these strange rays fragmenting out of them you better make an appointment to get fixed up. It worked wonders for me. The dots are now round again. You also might look at one of the red dot sights that have variable size dots that you can simply dial in to meet your needs.
