Right what’s the longest you’ve left your bottle standing for?
Mines been stood about 8 years 😳, obviously no test but still full, should I use it or just get it tested?
I’m going with the latter so answered my own question, but I’m still curious how long they’ll stand for.

I can't answer your question but am just curious: how long it is out of test. If a surface only bottle it could be max 3 years out of test, if a dive cylinder then 5.5yrs. Would it be possible to get it tested or would a 'tester' refuse to test it on the basis of time since last test? Might be worth a phone call to the test station to find out.
If no one wants to test it then provided the on-off and bleed systems work, I would be tempted to use the air and then start again with a new bottle.

That’s a different point of view, never looked at it that way, it’s a dive bottle, I believe they check inside for corrosion, if it’s okay they'll pressure test it, that’s what I was told at the last test, but rules change.

If it has pressure then it's not supposed to rust inside.
I would use ut until its down to 180bar, then get it tested.

There is no time limit for testing, it could be 50 years old & still pass, same is true of the air inside provided it was filtered when filled.

That is good to hear. I made my comment because I once took a dive bottle for testing and was admonished by the establishment for having missed the 'test by date' by a month with the warning that 'We can refuse to test it you know'. In fact I had not missed the date at all ... but it made me somewhat wary. They did test and it passed.

Age is irrelevant, date of last test is irrelevant. The tester should only be concerned if it will pass after he / she has checked it over.
