    BSA Standard query

    Hi all,
I have recently become interested on the above air rifles. I have been reading the excellent resources available on the the Vintage Airgun Forum, which truly have been very helpful. Whilst browsing the web for more info I came across this particular rifle.

    https://www.gunstar.co.uk/bsa-1929-b...-Guns/1655036#

My question is did BSA put Lincoln Jeffries stocks on such a late model rifles of their own? Or could this be a mistake on the seller's part with wrong pictures and description of the advertised rifle? BTW, I have no intention of buying. Just asking out of interest.

    Thanks for your time.

Lincoln Jeffries would have been the retailer rather than maker of this rifle and the LJ business would have been under his son's control by the time this rifle was made. I know of other BSAs with a similar stock stamping. Note the address is 140 Steelhouse Lane rather than the pre WW1 address.

Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. But not lathes. I have too many lathes. Thanks, JB.

You will generally get a much better quality rifle for your money buying privately. There are some really nice Standards to be found, sometimes with the original etching on the cylinder remaining.

I have now got two BSAs; a .22 Standard c.1920s that was advertised as an Improved D. Decided to keep it as despite being the wrong model it turned out to be a very good shooter with a bit of service.

My latest acquisition, which i am really well chuffed about is a straight stock .177 Improved Model B. This came in a vintage wooden box. The provenance of the rifle and case is same owner since 1960s. Perusing VAF resources i feel the case looks a lot like an early BSA made case. However, the inside of the lid has been covered in green baize.
Was thinking of attaching some pics but i think i am not allowed to.

    Krish
