No going back now... even using my small 1000W angle grinder, with those thin 1mm cutting discs, it cut through 5/8" steel like butter...

See what happens on the next cut.. it takes a thin cylindrical section which is clearly the last remaining bit of the block clean off the barrel, showing a blued groove underneath, which I guess was for a retaining crosspin..



That'll do for the moment. I need to get the old brocock barrel out and start machining a little more carefully for it's new home...
