Sussex Interclub HFT 2025 - Round 4 Results
Hi All
What a different visit to Buxted.
Pretty warm (and very humid), almost no wind (though it needed keeping an eye on) and, most extraordinary, not even the slightest hint of mud; erring toward dusty. And looks like the Buxted peops are prepping for any future rain by laying down proper footings and pebbles in the areas which used to be boggy given a hint of rain. And did you notice how low the river was?
Great course put out by Team Buxted for their first hosting of the 2025 SIHFT – many thanks chaps – and a decent turnout (61).
Some very good scores too. A near handful of 56s, topped by a 58. And then along came a Peal. Paul Charman and I had the pleasure of sharing the round with Charles and seeing how well he was doing. We started on Peg 12, so very aware that the unsupported stander (peg 9) was nearly at our end. Charles himself blurted a surprised and very relieved sigh when peg 9 fell over, suspecting that our final 2 targets couldn’t offer anything after that would present the stander’s challenge. But I wonder which of you can recall pegs 10 and 11; a pair of positively nasty wee surprises. Especially his 30th shot on peg 11 – that wretched small bird, way out there on the edge of the wood and in almost silhouette, almost no paint and which could certainly catch some breeze. Of course, those of you there at the end, know that he got it.
The first 60 in a SIHFT event for several years, meaning that I had to dig in to the ‘special’ badges bag.
Huge well done Charles. Just hope you can make those uber-special pellets last a lifetime.
An obvious impact of Charles’ clearance is the unexpectedly low number of Gold badge awards; just 10 today, compared with an average of a smidge under 25 for each of the 1st 3 rounds of this year.
Here are the full results. If you’ve not seen (or forgotten) the results table layout, perhaps the only column not recognised from its heading is the last one – the “T”. This denotes that this person’s score has been included in their club team result.

Can you spot any errors in this post? Specially with the new people joining today, have I spelt your name correctly? Do I have you down for the correct club and/or class? – please message me directly.
Today’s event takes us to the half way point of the 2025 series, so our next shoot sees us return to Horsham for round 5 on Sunday 13th July. Yup – just two weeks away.
Between now and then, there’s absolutely nothing happening (HFT wise) on my calendar, so ample opportunity for loadsa practice. I know I need it
If you know of anything else – shooting related please – do let us know.
