Is it a 30mm piston glided off the evil bay? Mach 1.5
For those that know…
I have a brand new HW80 with open sights that I bought as a retro style gun for garden pest control.
Finding open sights too limiting so I’ve bought a Leupold 3-9x33 EFR for it and a one piece mount.
I’ve been offered a v-Mach piston (gun is .22) and have been offered standard stroke, -5mm, -10mm and -15mm options.
May be old stock or copies I guess.
Question is, what is my best option?
I’ll probably run it at <12 for the time being…
Don't believe the hype .22 rules!

-10mm should be perfect at 12 FP
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. But not lathes. I have too many lathes. Thanks, JB.
I’d go -15mm in .22, that’s exactly what I run in mine.
Regards,
Dave.
And what other parts do I need to make it as shoot a level above a TBT type drop in PTFE kit?

The stroke reduction mated to a matched spring and guide set should yield a very noticeable uplift in refinement.

yeah, that's all you need - shorten the stroke and a decent spring with a well fitting guide.
The next step up is sleaving down the tube, new piston, etc. A whole different level of cost too![]()

I aren't an expert on internals so I wont chip in.
This does sound like a nice project, good base rifle, lovely scope, fettled insides then it only needs a nice stock.
That's a keeper.
