Yep, I'd say you've done the right thing by sticking with the TX for now and giving yourself longer to get used to it. Nice to have two superb different options.

It's good to see you fiddling with airguns again P

I've been through a similar thing lately, 5 years ago I bought a HW97k and spent a year shooting HFT with it. I struggled, never really coming close to my PCP scores but that's fine, my explanation was I was just crap with springers.

Convinced I could do better if I could see where the pellets were landing (so I can learn what I'm doing wrong) I spent many evenings in my garage and built a 22mm piston and comp tube sleeve for the HW97 (130g piston, 88mm stroke with a tx200 style latch rod). It shoots absolutely lovely with about 4mm of recoil but it didn't help much. I could see pellets land but couldn't explain why they landed there but on the plinking range it was shooting mega tight groups and everything was fine.

I tried a mates out of the box TX200HC 3 months back and it was like shooting on easy mode. I can't explain why but they are an easier gun to shoot by far, even if they recoil more, the trigger isn't quite as good and are no where near as smooth as my 22mm HW97. I don't know what it is, it's just better.

People can argue what better is but I went out and bought a new TX200 6 weeks ago and I'm making more progress now with my springer shooting than I did before with the 97k.

Just enjoy the 97 for what it is, they are different. I'm not convinced gliding will fix things either, that only really helps with smoothing out the cocking in my experience.

Hey Steve. Good to hear from you. Yep back at it for a couple months now, I just sit down the north Wales shooting school range several times a week but it’s great fun to be shooting again.
    You still shooting at Tawd?
Ps you still got the tx200sr?
