Pics From Kempton - Sunday 6 July

Once again, a huge thank you to Peter and Liz Binfield and their wonderful team of top rate staff for putting on yet another great fair. They make it look easy but a whole load of stress must go into putting on these events behind the scenes and I'm grateful to them for making such an effort for traders and visitors alike.

It was great to catch up with so many forum members and friends, old and new for a natter. That's another great attraction of these fairs. They bring us collectors out and it is nice to put faces to online names.

There was so much to see it was easy to feel gun blind. Anything from antique ball and butt reservoirs on the Protek Supplies stand to modern PCPs and just about anything else in between.

Protek had a load of newly manufactured pistons and synthetic washers for pre war BSA air rifles, which looked to be of excellent quality. Just the thing for getting an old BSA up and running and completely reversible too.

Protek also had a supply of reproduction tools for the Improved Model Britannia. These looked to be of excellent quality and I was pleased they were stamped PS for Protek Supplies, thereby reducing the risk of them being mistaken for originals.

Anyway, that's enough from me. Here's what you could have bought.

    LOL! I'm not the organiser!

There was certainly a lot there today. As usual, I felt gun blind.

Thanks for sharing the photos as always John 👍 I kept an eye out for you but it was very busy as you know. Trade appeared to be ticking over nicely with plenty of people carrying new purchases around with them 😎
As you say, a big thanks to Team Binners as well 😎👏

Yes I looked out for you too but I have a habit of missing the obvious. On my way out of the fair, I wanted to say goodbye to a Bisley mate and looked round for him, apparently looked straight at him without realising and turned around again only for him to shout his goodbyes to me! Honestly, I'd never make a cop.

Great fair though - heaving at times and I hope you found a little something for your collection. No airguns for me for once but I did source a rare AK bayonet and repro Improved Model Britannia tool from Protek. A cheaper than usual fair for me and Josie's pleased that no long rifles came home with me!

A particularly interesting fair today, as there were a lot of more modern airguns in addition to the usual vintage selection; far more than usual covering both springers and PCPs. Some especially nice tX200s, HW77s, Theobens, a BSA Merc S, and a supersport with a great stock, and a large range of PCPs too, at every end of the spectrum, from budget AGS, through Krals, and up to Skan, and Air Arms... With prices inflating as there are, many really good bargains to be had buying used rather than new.

A very enjoyable day, and great to catch up with so many like minded enthusiasts.
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. But not lathes. I have too many lathes. Thanks, JB.

I agree Jon. I missed the Mercury S - probably just as well as I would have been tempted.

Wonderful pics as usual. Thank God I didn't go otherwise the walnut Tommy, mk1 80 with venom mod and Annie 335 Mk2 would have been coming home with me.

Thank you. I was able to resist temptation for once in my life and only bought sundries rather than airguns at this fair.

Yes, I saw all three of those, there was also a near mint MK1 335 for sale.

Also a stunning Original 50, and Webley Tracker on the same stall caught my attention.

Hi John, if it was the Mercury S I saw it was in a left hand stock?

Not to worry John I’m the same and arguably even more so with the Airguns themselves often missing things on my first and even second lap around the hall only to be suprised to spot something on my third and often last lap, making me wonder if the stall holder has only just put something out or whether more likely I should have gone to Spec Savers 😣
I didn’t come home with anything this time but that doesn’t bother me, I view the day out much like I would a trip to a museum although admittedly something normally gets the better of me. There’s not so much on my want list these days I guess. I did um and ah over a Webley Victor, it was nice and a very fair price but missing its sights so I decided against it. There was also a nice ASI Sniper at a great price which I would have jumped at but Chris H kindly sent me one recently. As always my gaze lingers on the Webley Mk2 Service’s, I never have plucked up the courage to spent those amounts of money on a single purchase, it’s one rifle that never seems to appear as a project or as a really rough example 🤷♂️

It was a Brocock/Parker hale de-ac but I'm not sure of the price. It was a beauty though and if I could justify its display, I'd have been tempted.
