    Accurate springer advice

I am trying to find an air rifle for an elderly relative. They do not want a PCP and most of the decent 12 ft-lb springer models are too heavy (HW77, HW97, TX200).

Is there such a thing as a very accurate spring air rifle in the 8 to 10 ft-lb power range? Something around the size and heft of the old BSA Meteor.

Ideally a break barrel, but an underlever would be fine. It does not matter if it is current production or a discontinued design (even happy to have a suitable candidate tuned if such a thing is possible).

Any help or advice gratefully received. (I have tried searching these forums without success).

    A tuned HW30 will do 8.5 ft lbs or a Webley Longbow..Mach 1.5

Could always reduce the power on something like a 99 which I’ve found really sweet at around 8-9FPE

The 30 is a good shout if your elderly relative needs something that little bit lighter than the 99 and I think the Cometa 220 might also be worth a shout at that lower level as well.

Cometa 220 is a bargain sub 10ftlb springer, very easy going and zero twang, yep it’s one of my favourites, and recently Ive had a plink with a Crosman Phantom I think it was called, shot well but Id say just not quiet as nice shotcycle as the 220.
If it ain’t broke, fix it till it is

The Cometa 220, 300 and 400 are all pretty lightweight, but because they have corresponding lightweight piston, they aren't 'jumpy'

An HW 30 can do medium power easy to cock and shoot in 22

A Hatsan Breaker 900x is easier to shoot than a UK Stingray - which are beggars to break the barrels on

An old UK Exocet knock out 10.5 in 22 (at least from factory) and the long barrels ones are easy to cock

Lots of people have said the HW57's have got better, but you can't beat BB ease of handling ..

I would suggest the HW30 too.
Don't go for power over accuracy.

I totally agree - true single hole accuracy at 30 m and 15mm groups at 50m - in light wind conditions.

HW30 or HW99 if a modern rifle is wanted. Heard good things about the Webley Longbow & the Cometa 220 gets mentioned a lot. Take your pick.

Another vote for the HW30. As above, sublime little things. Lightweight, superb trigger, very accurate, easily accessible accuracy and low cocking effort. It's all the rifle most of us need unless power levels approaching the legal limit are desired. A quick fettle makes them even sweeter.

If higher power is required, the HW99 delivers with a small weight increase.
