    Is my Combro knackered?

Got it out after a few months, and getting some sort of error on the screen.
Looks like an E and a 3 with three bars in between them.
Doing it with new batteries as well.
Nothing about it in the instructions neither.

    Any ideas what's up?
    Cheers

No idea, but anything with batteries is worth removing them for 10 minutes and then fitting fresh ones, don't skimp on the time, some components hold charge and need the time to reset
Making a mockery of growing old gracefully since I retired

What you describe is when it’s set to metric mode and ready for the first shot. Assuming you don’t necessarily have a manual, here’s one for the Mk3/4 (though earlier are very similar).

Thanks for that, I had a photocopy with a page missing!

It does have a further problem, though. The display is fading in and out and showing erratic display elements.
With the cover off, pressure on the circuit board is causing this, so there may be a bad solder joint somewhere.
I'll have to take it apart a bit further and see if I can sort it out.

    Cheers

Could be a dry joint, yep. Though you changed the batteries, are you sure they’re ok? We know Robin gave up building new due to parts issues, but he may be able to help still re repairs.

Think I've traced it to the display connections. It isn't soldered in, just sits on two rubber type strips for the connection. With the back off it's erratic, but put together again it just goes dead.
