I've never blank fired it. I'll have a closer look at it next time I strip it down, cheers.

As long as seal is good, good clean to remove grease from front lip will stop any dieseling, also clean any old grease from inside the cylinder to stop the seal pushing it back to the front of gun.
    Happy tinkering mate

If it were me I'd be trying H&N Field Target Trophy and the lighter JSB Jumbo options - the Express and RS.

JSR are out of stock on a few pellets, so I ordered two hundred each of H&N Baracuda 18gr, and JSB Jumbo Monsters 20.83gr both 5.52

    Cheers Tony

Don't worry, it's just an impression caused by the pre-load on the spring pressing the piston against the end of the cylinder at rest.

    Dieaesing damage

My new HW95L, (2018 year), was built during the Wuhan China Virus pandemic time when the Weihrauch factory had a shortage of manpower. Inexperienced folks assembled the rifle with too much oil/grease and this resulted in dieseling damage to the piston seal, pic included. After the FPS varied by 100+ per 10 shots I installed an ARH kit with a Vortek seal after a through clean & polish. I also used GPL-205 lube which is dieseling resistant. The rifle is averaging about 17 FPE after several thousand shots & sometimes I can shoot MOA at 25 yards but not always.

I am unable to correct the spelling on post title to Dieseling.

Mmmm.....they're heavier than I'd normally want to use in a sub-12 springer. Try them by all means but I'd say not ideal. If you had a PCP also, I'd be more tempted to use them in that. No harm should occur, though, and you never know, they might pleasantly surprise???? But I'd definitely be trying those lighter ones I'd mentioned when you can.

Yep. Not an issue. And, as advised above, for future strips it's always advisable to clean everything thoroughly as even a tiny bit of residual lube can promote dieselling. So, paying extra attention to those little crevices in the seal lip and thoroughly degreasing the cylinder and piston before applying just the right amount of correct lube.

    Pellets.

Garry, P.S.....if you can get them, do try some RWS Hobby also. Most HW springers seem to love them.

That has to be the worst piston seal I've ever seen

Not just that it has been cooked, but that big nick at 2 o'clock, & that'll have been done in the factory too

That is one manky looking piston seal

Don’t wish to be pedantic but if it was a 2018 model year isn’t that pre C19?

From memory all the shutdowns and supply/staff issues didn’t really happen until March 2020
